Happy February! Remember Valentine's Day boxes should be coming to school anytime between now and next Monday. Also on the back of the Valentine's Day paper that went home the kids wrote the class list so everyone should have that to make life a little easier when filling out Valentine's Day cards. I usually keep Valentine's Day pretty simple. It will be a Day 4 next week so we will open and read our valentines around 2:15 when we come in from last recess. That will give us about 30 minutes to do so. I only allow kids to eat ONE piece of candy here at school! During the day we will also be making Valentine's Day cupcakes and each kiddo will get to frost his/her own cupcake! Any pink frosting donations and plastic spoons for spreading are greatly appreciated.

Our class did not win for the most minutes read for RFTS but we did win a cookie party for bringing in the most donations! We actually tied that with Mrs. Billups' class. We will enjoy a cookie party this Friday! The kids were very excited to hear our class names announced.

The kids in my class this year continue to amaze me. The amount of growth each child is making is simply wonderful! I can really tell when they are doing their reading and sight words at home, it makes such a BIG difference here at school! Keep up the great work!

We are finishing up Unit 6 in Math this week. We introduced the quarter and students are now able to count all coins. We also have learned how to write dollar and cent amounts using the $ sign and decimal point. We did a review packet today and will review the first part of tomorrow and then it is onto our test. I am sure the results will be great!

Keep up the great work at having your child practice his/her spelling words at home. It makes their test go so much smoother on Fridays!

I am still collecting items for our KE Fun Night basket. The theme is "Holidays" so please continue sending items to add to our basket. With 26 kids I am hoping to have a basket full of goodies for some lucky person!
