Ms. Stumpf First Grade Class

The kiddos have been doing a great job of writing their autobiographies. Last week we started our sloppy copies. This week we have polished them up and many students have had the opportunity to type them using a laptop. I am so impressed by the knowledge these kids have of computers! Our final product will be a class book complete with everyone's autobiographies and picture. Students will also get to bring home a copy for you to have. On top of our class book we are going to be skyping with different school personnel and they are going to be our audience as we read them our autobiographies. Mr. Schneider is among one of our guests who are awaiting our presentations.

Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to our Ice Cream Party this week. The kids thought this was the best celebration we have ever had! :) They sure deserved it!

In Math we have been working on several new ideas. The past two weeks we have introduced equal parts, sharing pennies and fractions. These concepts all tie in together. We have also added quarters into our mix of counting money. Any extra time you can give your kids at home counting coins would really be beneficial for them. It is hard to start at 25 and keep counting higher, especially when they have to switch from counting by 10's, 5's and 1's.

Next Thursday we start parent teacher conferences. If you forgot your day or time send me a note or email! I am looking forward to chatting with you about the progress your child has been making throughout first grade.
