Ms. Stumpf First Grade Class

Thursday, May 17, 2012

It is so hard to believe that we are nearing the end of our first grade journey.  I have grown to love this class so much it will be hard to say good bye to them in just a few days.  You are all so blessed to have such caring and loving children and I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend so many days with them.  Thank you for sharing them with me. :)

A few house keeping items...
1. Swimming: we are going to the Kalona Pool on Tuesday, May 22. We will be leaving around 8:30 so that we can be swimming and enjoying the water by 9:00.  With that being said I would like all children to come to school with their swimming gear on and read. (With clothes over the top of course ;) Please have your child's towel and any other accessories clearly marked with their name. Also please send sunscreen with your child or put it on them prior to sending them to school. We are asking that you do not send the spray sunscreen, lotion only.
2. The last day of school: In the past I have asked students to bring a game to school to play with on the last day of school.  This has worked out great.  We usually do not head down to eat until 11:30'ish. The kids really enjoy playing games with their friends and family.  You can start sending a game that is clearly marked with your child's name on it to school starting tomorrow.  I will store them in the classroom until the last day when we will get them out to enjoy the fun!
3. It is not to late to send a notebook for you child's summer journal.  It is a great way to encourage writing throughout the summer.
4. Picnic: Our grade has been asked to bring a salad dish to share.  It will work best for you to bring this in a disposable dish if possible. If you bring it in a dish that you wish to get back make sure you have it marked with your name.
5. If you have not returned the last day of school picnic form please do so ASAP. It will help us get a head count for the picnic and also let me know if your child is staying for the remainder or the day or leaving with a family member.

Check back later for photos of last weeks activities... :) Happy Thursday!
