WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE! We have had an AWESOME first week! I am so happy to be back in school and getting to know all of my new friends.

We have spent a lot of time getting to know each other through games, stories and group work.  Already we have all become great friends and are enjoying each day.

Each day we start out with Community Circle which is a time that we sit together and share something about ourselves or what we do when we leave school. It is a great time for us to get to know each other and practice being a good listener.

One of the first activities that we do in the morning is learn a new Jolly Phonics sound.  So far we have learned 4 sounds and everyone in our class is doing a great job at participating during the song and work time.  I truly appreciate you taking the time each night to review ALL sounds that are in their sound books and make sure the books get back to school. This extra time spent with these sounds will make a world of difference.  KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

In your child's backpack tonight and all other Fridays you will find their purple Friday Folder. In this folder you will see work from throughout the week and important papers from myself, the office or the community (YMCA).  Please look through your child's folder, take the papers out, sign and return to school each Monday.

This week in the Friday Folder be looking for: Jolly Phonics papers to practice at home (do not need to be returned),  Scholastic Book-Orders, Jolly Phonics Parent Guide (please keep all year), Highlights magazine form (Please complete the form even if you do not want the magazine. Just by you filling out your name our class can earn supplies like stickers, pencils or games for our classroom) and a baggie and a note asking for you to send coins to school with your son/daughter to use throughout the year for Math.

I will post a few pictures from the week but check back as I will be adding more!
