Happy Monday! Welcome to our last week in first grade for the year 2012! We had such a great week last week learning about Christmas around the world. The kiddos loved learning about different ways to celebrate and had a hard time believing that some kids do not receive gifts until January! They were glad that Santa comes to visit them on December 25. Last week we had so much to do each day that we did not get to study Christmas in Sweden so we will finish up Christmas Around the World today.
Tomorrow we will be traveling to the Herbert Hoover Museum to continue our study of Christmas. We will learn about Christmas long ago. Just a reminder that we are leaving around 8:45 in the morning and will return in time to eat at our regular scheduled lunch.
Wednesday is a 2 hour early out for the District. That means we will be working hard to finish up our Unit 4 in Math so that we can come back to start fresh with Unit 5 in January. Counting coins at home and helping your child practice telling time are both great ways to help strengthen their Math skills.
Thursday is Grandparents' Day here at KE. Our first grade schedule will be as follows:
8:50-10:00 Grandparents visit the classroom
10:00-10:15 Recess
10:15 Caroling in the gym
*Cookies and coffee will be available throughout the morning for Grandparents to enjoy.
Thursday is a regular school day with a 3:25 dismissal time.
I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and have safe travels! Happy Holidays!
