Science fun with ping pong balls and bouncy balls!

Science fun with ping pong balls and bouncy balls!

Science fun with ping pong balls and bouncy balls!
We have enjoyed our latest Science Unit of Balls and Ramps and were very sad to see it go. We conducted many experiments to test: size, weight, rolling ability and bounciness. Students were able to test many different types of balls such as: ping pong balls, small bouncy balls, large bouncy balls, wooden balls and Styrofoam balls. Each day that we conducted an experiment we followed up by a writing and sharing with peers.

Math: We are continuing to work extremely hard in Math. Telling time, counting quarters, adding, subtracting and practicing place value are all difficult tasks.  My kiddos are doing a great job of giving it their all each day. At home you can continue to help out by having your child count coins or add one digit numbers together.  When a student is given three corresponding numbers such as 4, 7 and 11 they should be able to produce 2 addition facts and 2 subtraction facts.  Ask them to do this for you at home with any set of corresponding numbers and you will be amazed at what they can do.

Well we have officially made the plunge into Jolly Grammar! This is our third week with Grammar and Spelling lessons.  The kiddos are seeming to enjoy Jolly Grammar just as much as Jolly Phonics. :-)  So far we have focused on Proper Nouns, Nouns, Pronouns, Plurals and this week are concentrating on initial blends.  We will continue on with having 2 spelling lists for a few more weeks. We truly appreciate the work you are doing with your child at home each night with their spelling homework.
