I simply cannot believe we only have one week of first grade left. I feel so blessed to have gotten to know each and everyone of my kiddos and their families. Thank you for helping us have a great year at Kalona Elementary. You continued support means the world to me. Here are a few last reminders for the year...

1. The end of the year picnic is Monday, June 3. A form was sent home and needed to be returned letting the school know how many people were attending and if you child is leaving with you after the picnic or staying at school. Visitors are welcome to arrive between 10:45-11:00. The tentative plan is for us to go through the line for lunch around 11:35. If you have not returned your picnic form please do so ASAP. Here is what first grade friends are responsible for bringing: A salad of any type or a vegetable dish or slices of fresh fruit to serve 20. Or, two salads that serve 10 each.
*Once you go through the line for lunch you and your family are welcome to eat anywhere on the school grounds including the classroom. After you are through eating you must come back to the classroom to say final good-byes and your child's report card.

2. End of the year swimming party is Wednesday, May 29th. First grade will be leaving KE around 8:30 to walk to the Kalona Pool. Please have your child dressed with their swimsuit under their clothes as well as a clean set of under garments to change into after we are done swimming. Students need to bring a towel. Snack and money should NOT be brought to school or the pool. We will have our regular morning snack when we arrive back at KE around 10:30. IF it is raining we will NOT go swimming and there is NOT a make-up day.
