I hope you are all staying nice and warm with these cooler temperatures! This is just a friendly reminder about the book cart. Your child is bringing home an "easy read" 3 times a week. This book is meant to be easy for them. We want them to feel successful when reading and to realize that they can do it by themselves. Here at school I read with kiddos in small groups with books that are harder for them to help push them to new levels of thinking and understanding. While you are reading these easier books at home concentrate on praising your child for their flawless efforts and answering questions about their book. Who were the characters? What is the first thing that happened? What happened next? How did the story end? What part did you like best in the story? Why did you like that part? Did this story remind you of anything that has happened to you or a book that you have read already? These types of questions will help strengthen your child as a reader. Thank you for all the continued support you are giving your child!

Emma comes to our house a couple times a week and we have been reading together. This is a great idea and I agree if the books are easy it builds confidence! I appreciate your efforts as I know it takes time to find and sort books for each student.
