Read about our most recent homework below! It is very similar to writing homework/notebooks from Jolly Phonics.

Fry Sight Words

Your child is going to be bringing home a baggie with 10 Fry Sight Words in it. Please practice reading and writing these words with your child a few times. You will find that they are able to read all or most of all the words. What we really want to focus on the 2nd half of the year is the writing of them.  We would love to see all of our students being able to read and write all 100 words correctly by the end of the year. Feel free to keep these word baggies for a few nights if you wish or return them the next day.

This week is going to be a little different from the last two weeks, we are actually going to see each other for 5 days, can't say whole days after this morning!!  We are diving back into  our regular routines. It may take us a few days to remember how it all works but I am sure we will all adjust.

Be looking for your child's report card today.  We will have them packed in our bags before we leave with instructions that they should not open them without you!  :-)  I am very pleased with all of the hard work they have been doing since back from Winter Break. It wasn't easy to get all the assessments completed in two days but the kiddos did great, I am very proud of each and everyone of them.  I am absolutely ecstatic with the growth in Fry Sight Words that they are making. Keep up all the great work you are doing at home with them.  I will be starting the DRA this week. Once I complete the assessment I will let you know what your child's "official" reading level is for January (half way through first grade).  I would like to see everyone reading at a 10 or 12 by this time.  Please keep reading with your child each night and asking them questions about their books.  Retelling a story is a major component in the DRA.

In this weeks Friday folder you will find information about a special celebration that is quickly approaching, Day 100!
