Happy Friday once again! Hard to believe our second week of school is over already. We have been working very hard this week. In Math we have been concentrating on tally marks. Each day we do a class survey and use tally marks to find the results. We have learned our class' favorite kinds of pizza, pets, and how we get to school. Tally marks are fun to make and sure are experts at making them just perfect ;)! Tally marks also start us off with counting by 5's. We will become experts at that as well. Tally marks and nickels both count by fives and shhhhh a secret...when we start to tell time we will count by 5's as well! :)

Our Science unit right now is weather. It just so happens that we are also learning about thermometers and reading them in Math. It is so great how our curriculum overlaps! For Science we created our own weather journals. Each day we take the time to look outside and decide what the weather is. I am happy to say so far we have had a lot of sunshine!

We read a big book story this week called "I Am Six." We discussed the story and discussed what things were different from us in the story and what things were the same. Next we got out paper and wrote our own "I Am Six" story. They turned out great!

The University of Iowa Burn Unit came on Wednesday and did a fire safety presentation for us. We do this each year and are very thankful that we have such great people to help us teach our kids about fire safety.

Please remember to check our blog each week. I try to update it by Friday to give a quick look at our week. I will also post any important information on here as well. I would like you to click and become a follower on our blog. This lets me know that you have found us and are able to read about our classroom.

Have a great weekend!
